Rationale: This project is an Infographic illustration for members of a coalition against smoking. As the chosen illustrator my role was to create a bar chart to represent the statistics of annual related deaths from cigarettes. This illustration will be used as part of a presentation informing the members of the coalition the latest figures on cigarette related deaths in the United States. The challenge was to transform ordinary data into an appealing visual aid. I used Illustrator to create a simple and basic bar chart representing the corrected figures given to me. I replaced the columns with a vector image. I replaced my columns with a photo of a cigarette that was converted to vector by using Live Trace feature. I then highlighted the whole graph and ungrouped the objects. I deleted everything but the bars. I used the live trace feature again to create the background image.
