Toned Down

I decided my portfolio was a little to themey so I have toned it down some. But I am still not sure which background I will use. Have not decided if I will use a background image for each section or not.

A Round-up of Tools You Can Use For Creating Online Videos

Pixar’s Rules Of Storytelling

Doing a movie trailer for this class was not a great idea everybody else just did really simple videos for example one girl compared drought conditions with non drought conditions and just put together videos with fade transitions. One video was just different shots of waterfalls. One project was just las vegas scenes cut together.

We were allowed to use comp videos from getty.

I guess I have always been taught to tell a story so that's what I tried to do. More work then I needed to do.

Some examples of Movie Trailers for inspiration these are done in After Effects which although this class was about learning Adobe Premiere Pro I don't have that so I used after effects for everything:
Poker Trailer
Epic
Epic  2
 Shake
Legacy
Horror

Easier Video Ideas I could have done these would have been perfect seriously this is how simple everyone else s videos were:

Main Project Concept Paper

During this course, we will be working on two different sets of assignments. The first type of assignments are “Weekly Exercises” and will be used to practice the concepts and skills taught in the course. The second type of assignments is are “Main Project.” This project is creating a video with at least two tracks of audio that incorporates advanced editing techniques such as transitions, motivated edits, and superimposition of images, along with the use of audio enhancement such as music and voice-over.

First assignment for the Main Project is to develop the concept for the main project and write an explanation of how  footage will be used to portray a story.

 My idea:

Project Theme:  A classic story with a twist.
Story Concept:  I plan on making a TV spot movie trailer for a movie based on the tale of Rip Van Winkle envisioned as a crime drama.
This story takes place in a fog-shrouded port city. The story begins in the 1930s and ends in the 1950s. Rip, in the 1930s, leaves his family to get drunk and passes out. He wakes up twenty years in the future.  He first wakes up to witnessing a murder. He ends up getting blamed for the murder.
Video clips are available at Getty images for this project. The video will start with footage from 1930s a man leaves his family to go drinking and passes out. The video clips will be black and white. The background music will be from the 1930s. After he wakes up the video will have quick cuts showing the murder followed by the changes that have happened since he went to sleep. The background music will get louder and be rock n roll music from the 50s. The video clips will switch to color. It ends with a motion graphic of the title.
Audio: Voice overs, music, sound effects
Intended Audience:  Adults
Beginning: Fog covered city in black and white.
Middle: He passes out
Turning Point:  He wakes up and witnesses a murder.
End: Motion graphic of the title
