Navigational Chart and Wireframes

My client is a music school which offers a full range of music programs for children to learn music in classes, private lessons or group lessons. They would like to have a website that will showcase their instructors, classes, events and reputation in the community to potential students and their parents. They also want to provide a place on their website to provide information to current students only.
Some inspiration found on my pinterest boards
A really good pdf about learning how to make wireframes
I have a Pinterest board dedicated to wireframes.
Navigational Chart
Your chart should clearly illustrate the relationship between your site pages and the navigational flow of the site.

Wireframes
Wireframes should visually represent the placement of your header, navigation (global, local, courtesy, etc.), content (main, secondary, tertiary, etc.), footer and any other sections of the page.

For wireframing and navigational charts I have created a set of brushes for Photoshop that I use to make them.
I know alot of students that are not comfortable with Photoshop yet and either use power point or online tools to help them make wireframes. How to use wireframes.

Introduction to Programming Website

You will be working on a dynamic Web site throughout the rest of the course. This site will have a minimum of seven (7) working pages including a home page and six (6) interior pages. The site will be published as a series of PHP files and should be functional in its navigation. You will be responsible for providing complete content—written and visual (both static and dynamic) content are required. Your website should be created as a web presence for a real or created company.

Introduction to Programming

This course will combine research and collaboration, hands-on exercises, and an individual course project suitable for inclusion in a portfolio. The course will explore PHP—a popular open-source scripting language that integrates common Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS within one development environment—and the functions and applications that can be built using that particular language.

Team Ricardo /Ilyssa

My role as illustrator-
Rationale: This project is an Infographic illustration for members of a coalition against smoking. As the chosen illustrator my role was to create a bar chart to represent the statistics of annual related deaths from cigarettes. This illustration will be used as part of a presentation informing the members of the coalition the latest figures on cigarette related deaths in the United States. The challenge was to transform ordinary data into an appealing visual aid. I used Illustrator to create a simple and basic bar chart representing the corrected figures given to me. I replaced the columns with a vector image. I replaced my columns with a photo of a cigarette that was converted to vector by using Live Trace feature. I then highlighted the whole graph and ungrouped the objects. I deleted everything but the bars. I used the live trace feature again to create the background image.
Here is the illustration I created.
My role as art director- Here is the illustration that was created by Ricardo:

Infographic

The assignment this week for the infographic is two parts.

  • As the illustrator post 5 thumbnail sketches of the proposed infographic provided by my art director(the latest figures on cigarette related deaths in the United States). Thumbnails should originate on paper.

My 5 Sketches

My notes as art director:

The 2010 Association of Army Recruiters national conference will be held Oct. 26 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The conference provides a forum for addressing new strategies, tactics and tools to improve the recruiting process.
Our company has been hired to create a power point presentation that will be presented at the conference titled Sustain an All-Volunteer Force Composed of Highly Competent Soldiers. The attendees of this conference are all members of the Army serving their country as Army recruiters.
You are being asked to create a pie chart to be used in this power point presentation. The pie chart will represent statistic of recruits from the primary recruiting market (17 to 24 year old males) for the Army. The pie chart will represent in percentage values the recruiting market for the Army.
The goal for the pie chart is to illustrate proportions of the primary recruiting market for Army recruiters. When viewing this chart Recruiters need to be able to quickly compare the size of the slice for qualified candidates with the whole pie. It will be used at conferences for two years and as training material for new recruiters. The design should have strong elements that evoke patriotism while remaining professional. The typeface should be clear, simple and bold. We want something that stands out.
Statistics to be used for chart:
29% Fully Qualified
20% Medically Disqualified
6% Morally Disqualified
7% Disqualified due to dependents
22% disqualified due to being overweight
16% Require Medical or Moral waiver
The image should be 300 dpi / 5 " x 6" / CMYK. Please submit 5 thumbnail sketches by Friday with the final chart to be submitted by Friday, August 13, 2010.
You are being provided with 16 hours to complete this assignment.
Fee Schedule
Name of Illustrator: Ricardo Andres Miranda
Service Provided: Pie Chart

“I don't want life to imitate art. I want life to be art.” ~ Carrie Fisher

Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when it's the only one we have.

This Infographic illustration project consists of two separate illustration projects.

For one project, you take the role of art director – working with a classmate who you've "hired" as an illustrator for the project.

For the other project, you become the illustrator – working with a classmate who has "hired" you to be the illustrator on the project.

Here is an example of an infographic I like.

I do not like this assignment at all. LOL! For two reasons one I have to work with someone else and two it just does not seem as creative as I would like. I am happy with my partner. I gave him a list of ideas I was willing to do and he is ok with that. So that makes working with someone better still do not like it!!! My suggestions were mostly funny but of course he had to give me a serious one!!!!

So here is my partner as my art director:

For this illustration you will have two days to provide a general layout and different variations of the illustration in thumbnails. After reviewing the thumbnails and determining the layout you will proceed to give a full-scale copy of what our client needs. Our client is requesting a eight and a half inch by eight and a half inch bar chart to represent the statistics of annual related deaths from cigarettes. Content will be supplied below, content is to be accurately represented in a corporate style with a neat and clean appearance. The intended audience for this illustration will be members of a coalition against smoking. This illustration will be used as part of a presentation informing the members of the coalition the latest figures on cigarette related deaths in the United States.

Content for chart:

Cigarette Smoking related deaths total nearly 443,000 a year

Lung cancer: 128,900 deaths

Other cancers: 35,300 deaths

Ischemic Heart Disease: 126,000 deaths

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: 92,900 deaths

Stroke: 15,900 deaths

Other diagnoses: 443,000 deaths

Any input would be much appreciated, I know I left out budget not quite sure how to come to a clear figure any help would be appreciated thanks you.

Week 4 Apple

I wonder where my head was!!!!! What was I thinking about????My daughter does not like this one because of the placement of the apples but like I have said before I am not good at Illustrator and this is where I gave up!!!!!! See more on my pinterest boards
