Catalog description of classes I have left to take.Unfortunately at Ai what the catalog says is rarely what you learn. The (one) good professors have left the school and the ones left don't care what they are suppose to teach they end up teaching what they know which is usually very limited or outdated knowledge.
IMD410 E-Learning Applications
(Prerequisite: IMD330 E-Learning Design)

Soooo Close!!!!!!
Fall quarter is over! No more creative writing or making interactive infographics. Now I only have 6 classes left until I graduate! I am going to take 3 for the winter quarter and 3 for the spring quarter. Currently I am desperately looking for a job! Of course everyone wants to see a portfolio. I was not happy at all with the portfolio I did for Portfolio I. So I am taking time during the break to try to get a new portfolio done. I have read alot of articles on how a portfolio for a web designer should look. Definitely trying to keep it simple since all I really want them to look at is my work no need for all kinds of irrelevant things.

Out Loud
Today in my creative writing class I have to read a story I wrote out loud I really do not want to do this. Makes me wish I had taken this class online!!!! The animation kids in my class have some really great stories about worlds they have created for games.
She wondered why her sister was there so early in the morning. She thought she most have slept on the couch that night, she most have been too worried to leave her and go to her own home. Her sister crawled into bed next to her and whispered in her ear, “October will never be the same.”
It had been almost 2 years since Jackie had packed her bag. She only had enough things to fill one bag. It was full of old clothes all her sister’s hand me downs. They had been to poor for Jackie to have new clothes. Jackie was a very petite girl but she was athletic and strong so the idea of hitchhiking her way out of the small town she grew up in didn’t scare her. She had no particular destination in mind. Jackie just wanted to be anywhere but there. She had decided to wear her long wavy auburn hair slicked back into a ponytail because she felt it would give her usually soft face a more angular and harsh look as if to tell everyone that saw her not to mess with this girl. Eventually, a truck driver had picked her up and taken her as far as Tempe, Arizona where Jackie decided to stay.
On the first night she was gone she had seen her reflection in a mirror and had marveled at how her green eyes had seemed to change colors. They no longer were the dull muted green she was use to staring back at her but more vibrant. Her eyes now reminded her of springtime which Jackie felt was very appropriate for marking this new beginning.
It was in Tempe while she was working as a waitress in restaurant next to a motel on the highway that she first saw him. No one could miss his dark blue 67 El Camino. The first time she saw his El Camino pulling into a parking space outside the restaurant it was in the morning. The sun was only half way up and the glare off of his car hurt her eyes but she couldn’t turn away. When he got out of his car the sun was shining so bright on him she thought if he hadn’t been so skinny he would have looked like a Greek god at that moment. It was his eyes that she first fell in love with. They were stunning sapphire eyes that drooped a little bit giving him a sad puppy dog expression. Sonny looked older than he really was. He was a loner and she liked that.
After that first time she met Sonny, Jackie never left him. He would pick her up after work and they would go to his mom’s house. His mom didn't like her because she was a California girl whatever that was supposed to mean. But she had a wonderful time in that house with his family and Sonny was a great man. He had the type of family that Jackie had always dreamed about being a part of. They sat down together for dinner every night. His family would sit at dinner and talk to each other. Jackie would think about her own family and how her parents had only yelled at each other. Never kind words like at Sonny’s house. His mom made things like pot roast with potatoes and fried chicken with German potato salad. Not like when she was a kid eating her mom’s bologna sandwich dinners as fast as she could so she could escape from the house again. Jackie would eat as slow as she could trying to make each meal last. Sonny’s mom never liked the way Jackie dragged out the family dinners by dawdling over her plate. His mom thought it was rude. But Jackie didn’t care she wanted this to last forever.
But there was a war going on and boys were being drafted. When Sonny got his draft notice Jackie tried to put on a brave face for him. Jackie thought letting him know how scared she was wouldn’t help him. She wanted to be strong for him. And Sonny left. He went into the army and was going to be a helicopter gunner. He went o Alabama for basic training. Jackie had flown down to Fort Rucker, Alabama and stayed with him for about a week after he finished basic training. The two of them had driven back to Arizona together before he was to ship out to Vietnam. They had tried to have fun but the tension from him getting ready to leave was overwhelming on that trip. As much as Jackie wanted to hold onto everything they had before it had all changed.
On the way back to Arizona they sat in silence in that dark blue 67 El Camino watching the highway disappear behind them bringing them closer to Sonny leaving. After he left Jackie found out she was pregnant. She was in a town that was still new to her and no family. Jackie had to handle the pregnancy all by herself. At night she would watch the news. See the horrors of the war they would show rows and rows of soldiers in body bags.
She would cry herself to sleep every night. In the morning she would get out of bed and stare at her eyes in the mirror now they were always blood shot from crying red and green she would think like Christmas. Every morning she would go to the mailbox almost running to see if she had a letter from Sonny at first she got a letter almost every day pages and pages describing everything Sonny was doing. She knew all the details of his life in Vietnam from who he was with him to what he had for breakfast. But the letters started getting shorter and farther apart.
Now it had been months since she had heard from him. She did not tell Sonny about being pregnant. She would think about how he didn't know unless someone else had told him. Tempe wasn't where she wanted to be anymore. Jackie couldn't see any other way out of the mess she felt that her life had become but to go back home. Jackie had returned home just before the baby was born. It was a dark cold day in October when her father had to drive her to the hospital to have the baby.
She had been given drugs at the hospital that had knocked her out. She was pregnant she went to sleep she woke up and she wasn’t pregnant anymore. After all the months of watching her belly grow. After all the months of feeling a baby moving inside her after all the months she had spent talking to her baby it was over just as simple as going to sleep. She felt that it had been too easy that she had been robbed of something. She felt empty and alone. A girl. She had decided to give the baby up for adoption.
Although she never saw the baby she would picture her in her mind every day. She imagined her baby with fair pink skin and big blue eyes like her daddy. She could almost smell the sweet scent of a baby when she thought about her little girl. She had named her Jessica and wondered what her new parents were going to call her. She had crawled out from under the worn pink comforter. The bed was now too crowded for her to sleep in now besides she really couldn’t sleep anyways.
She left her sister there sleeping comfortably and went into the bathroom. She saw her eyes in the mirror dull muted green and she wondered if they would ever be the vibrant green of spring again.
The Fate of Jackie
She stared into the darkness. She didn’t need to have any light to know what was around her. The dolls that were so worn they barely had hair left, her favorite records , the Beatles and the Rolling Stones , the large, tattered teddy bear in the corner all the things that were left from her childhood, things that she once hated and ran away from. Now she lay on that small twin bed under the worn pink comforter with faded daisies scatter all over it remembering every detail of everything in that room. A long time ago she had walked out of that room closing the door behind her promising herself that she would never return. Now it felt strangely comforting to be there. The sunlight was slowly appearing out of the darkness. She wanted to stay in the darkness. She wanted to stop the light from coming into the room. She instinctively reached down to her belly as if she felt she needed to protect her baby from the light. But her belly was flat now. Empty. Now the room was full of morning sunlight, no darkness left. She heard someone at the door. It creaked as it was being opened slowly. She closed her eyes pretending to still be asleep. She knew it was her sister coming into the room. Her older sister that had been more of a mother to her then her own mother was, slipping into the room they had shared as children. She wondered why her sister was there so early in the morning. She thought she most have slept on the couch that night, she most have been too worried to leave her and go to her own home. Her sister crawled into bed next to her and whispered in her ear, “October will never be the same.”

Poetry Writing
We have been writing poems for creative writing. I do not like poems would rather stick to writing stories. When you type a word or two into Google search, a handful of autocomplete suggestions pop up automatically. And sometimes, but just sometimes, those autocomplete suggestions are quite poetic
My Google Poem
My love for sale
My love for verses
My love for danger
My love for you evermore
my heart melts into the air
my heart melts into wonder
my heart melts into the kiss
my heart melts into nothing
The night holds terror
The night holds the key
The night holds me
The night holds you
cry, dance 'til the light takes us
cry, dance 'til its quiet
cry, dance 'til its over
cry, dance 'til we die
His beauty is his name
His beauty is in his eyes
His beauty is for my ashes
His beauty is goodness
Until he sees his image
Until he sees me as a friend
Until he sees right through me
Until he sees angels in the architecture
all I do Is Win
all I do is waste time
all I do is is kiss you
all I do is love you
While waiting for the sun
While waiting for the rapture
While waiting for the final leaf to fall
While waiting for the end
Men Are Dogs
I have to tell you.
All I feel is hate
You are doggy poo
The end is in view
You make me irate
I have to tell you.
Break is over due
Let me tell you straight
You are doggy poo.
You’re so fat you moo.
Your face looks like bait
I have to tell you.
With reference to
Your personal state
You are doggy poo
Do not misconstrue
No need to debate
I have to tell you.
You are doggy poo

Resources
Keep a journal. Most writers keep journals of their thoughts and ideas. Over time you will develope a rich storehouse of ideas that you can go back to again and again.
The daily newspaper. There are at least five good ideas in every single daily issue of any big city newspaper.
Read obituaries. Newspapers try to include the occasional obituary of people who weren't famous but lived amazing or at least interesting lives.
Look at cartoons. I think the New Yorker is especially good. Their cartoons often have a delicious blend of irony, naivety and sophistication that can spark new ideas.
Read the classics. Project Gutenberg has 17,000 literary works that are generally out of copyright and free to use. How many time has Romeo and Juliet been rewritten into a new book or movie? If you can't come up with an original idea, copy an old idea. It's done all the time.
List the ten most important events in your life. What changed you? What made you the person you are? Pick the most interesting one.
Remember someone you hurt. Maybe you did it on purpose or maybe it was accidental. Put yourself in their shoes. What would you have done.
Think about someone you hate. This should be the most despicable human being you have ever run against. Make up a story of how they got to be that way.
Write what you know. Your world may seem pretty dull to you but it may seem very exotic to the rest of the world, especially if you can find offbeat characters and situations.
What are lessons you've learned about how to live life and how did you learn them?
What are moral issues you've always felt strongly about.
What foolish things do you see other people do that really bugs you?
What foolish things do you do over and over that really bugs you?
Think of a person you really admire. What is it about how they lived their life that you like?
What do you wish you had understood when you were much younger.
What mistakes do you see young people making over and over.
How have people's expectations and behavior changed since you were young.

A Student's Guide to Web Design
From A Student's Guide to Web Design
"Student Guide to Web Design is committed to better equipping students after graduation for the design industry with an inviting community that encourages collaboration and the sharing of ideas.
Dissatisfaction towards current design education at the university level seems to becoming more widespread throughout fresh talent entering the web design industry. Post-secondary education accommodates students to grow within an environment that promotes the advancement of technical skills, rather than soft skills needed to secure employment after graduation."

Final- Interactive Map
Our final project for Interactive Motion Graphics is to make an interactive map with videos.
Some of the ideas I have had are:
Examples of interactive maps
Some of the ideas I have had are:
- Doing a portfolio site for a teacher and having a bookshlf with books on it. When you click on a book a cliff notes version of the book plays.
- A map showing large dog friendly apartment complexes in Austin. Maybe add to website I could build for a Ridgeback Club to put on my website.
- Back of bar when you click on a bottle of alcohol a video plays about that alcohol. Or I could do glasses with drinks in them and a video plays showing how to make that drink. Everyone makes websites about alcoholic drinks.
- I could make a site for a real estate agent with a featured property page that would have a floor plan you click on it and video of the room plays.
- A map of Texas with small towns and you can click on them to see a video of that town. I guess this could be a day trip travel site or a story of Texas site.
- Floorplan of a preschool. Videos could be about how to set up a classroom.
- A cupcake website clicking on cupcakes brings up the recipe.
Examples of interactive maps
- Interactive map software for creating clickable, flash interactive maps. Has lists of ideas.
- Another software program with examples and ideas for inspiration.
- This tutorial will teach you how to create an interactive map in which a map marker flies over to the city highlighted and will show a small photograph of that city.
- Information about wineries. I like the intro on this map.
- How to make a very useful and widely used element: an interactive map. Whether it be a country map, like the case is here, or an anatomical map of human body, city plan, an engine schema, etc.,
- Inspiration from an e learning site.

Controversial Television Ad
Controversial
television ad for Fundamentals of Advertising. I didn't really like the idea of having to make a controversial ad. I think they are all in bad taste and really wish that we didn't do this assignment.
I had 4 ideas for the ad.
1. Penn state football - good touch bad touch football
I ended up doing the mashed potatoes ad. Here are my story board.

Website Proposal
Austin is full of amazing places to photograph. Most people know about Mt. Bonnell or the
state capital but what if you are looking for a unique place to photograph. Do
you know where to go in Austin to photograph an iconic Austin mural or get a
great shot of a peacock? The purpose of this website is to provide users with
information about places to photograph around Austin that they might not know
about. This site helps users find great
backdrops and scenic views for their photos. Members can also share with other
users their favorite places to photograph and they can also chat with other
users about where to take pictures.

Itsy Bitsy Spider
Midterm project is to animate a nursery room. I did Itsy Bitsy Spider. This is my rough draft it still needs some work like the sun spinning in different directions. I don't like Flash I really don't know how to work with it so this may seem simple but it took me a long time to make all the graphics and figure out how to use Flash. The spider legs move when I converted it to a file I could upload to youtube the legs stopped moving so its suppose to look like the spiders walking.

Sausage Fest
Portfolio Assignment Rebranding Jimmy Dean
Currently the tagline for Jimmy Dean is “Eat Jimmy Dean”
Lets think about target markets and change this tagline to fit the appropriate market.
FIRST, DEFINE A TARGET MARKET…
Female head of households
THEN DECIDE ON A MESSAGE…
1. Bring the whole family around the table even on the busiest of mornings.
2. America's most beloved breakfast sausage.
3. Every Mom's Secret for a breakfast they will eat.
4. Make your family feel extra special
5. Perfect for a busy family to enjoy together.
6. Jimmy Dean is always home.
7. A breakfast must do.
8. An old fashion sausage for a modern breakfast.
9. Brings the family together.
10. Family Pleasing
I made this as a joke for the assignment not feeling too inspired about this assignment
My other idea was yes some people claim to like our sausage but then some people claim to have been abducted by aliens.

Summer Schedule 2012??????
Picked up my Summer schedule today. Apparently the school scheduled alot of classes during times when the people scheduled to teach the classes are not available. I am going to have to change my schedule not really sure what I am going to end up with. I am registered for a class this evening but it was one of the classes that was changed and now a computer lab isnt available at the time of the class. Really? A web design class without computers? WTF? How much did I pay for this???
Anyways last year was so stressful trying to stay in school with all the horrible stuff going on in my life. I had begun to really hate going to school. Today when I picked up my schedule was the first time in a long time I felt good about being in school. First time in a long time I have wanted to be there. I am glad that I have made so many changes to my life over the summer break and I am ready to be back in school!!!!
The Meaning of the Yellow Rose: They convey joy, gladness and delight. Another truly wonderful meaning of a yellow rose is that it indicates a determination to start over new and to begin fresh. Yellow roses also symbolize freedom.
